In March of 2022, founder Frances Lang moves to a position with The Ocean Foundation. Janaira Quigley a local educator and community activist joins as Executive Director.

In 'January of 2023, Ocean Connectors joined the San Diego Tourism Authority's DEIJ Accelerator. A program designed to promote tourism hospitality businesses owned by people of color, people with disabilities, LGBTQIA+, women, and veterans.

Developed virtual education materials and created Migration Quest board game.

Expanded staff positions and launched new organizational logo.

Partnered with JSCK Foundation to host writing contest and bicycle giveaway and received Michelle White Environmental Award for Community category from Port of San Diego.

Celebrated 10 year anniversary and added new program focused on sharks.

Launched Eco Tour social enterprise, received Award for Excellence in Community Leadership and Outreach from IEA Research and Education Foundation and Non-Profit Brand of the Year Award from SDX.

Established Advisory Board and launched “sister city” model focused in San Diego County and Riviera Nayarit.

Added new program focused on birds and received American Meteorological Society Distinguished Educator Award for Non-Formal Education.

Added new program focused on whales and received Ocean Science Leadership Award for Informal Teaching Excellence from USC.
